- (Niagara Falls) - Charlene Mae Crewe, age 50, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, after a long battle with diabetes and kidney problems. She had been a resident of Niagara Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on Cedar Ave. since 2005.Born at the former Ransomville General Hospital on May 15, 1959, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Buttery) Crewe, formerly of Frontier Avenue. Charlene had lived in Niagara Falls since 1961 and attended Special Ed. Classes throughout the city schools, and also attended Opportunities Unlimited. She loved to listen to Country music and play her guitar. Her favorites were songs from Elvis and Alabama.Besides her parents, Charlene was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Grace (Nickerson) Buttery and her paternal grandparents, Rudolph and Kathleen (Stroh) Crewe.She is survived by four sisters and three brothers: Grace (late Pete) Austin and Kenneth Crewe, both of Ransomville, Alice (Albert) Williams of Jefferson City, TN, Linda (Robert) St. Cyr of Lewiston, Russell (Joanne) Crewe of St. Petersburg, FL, Evelyn (John Stevens) Gilmer and Charles (Linda) Crewe, both of Niagara Falls, NY. Also survived by six nieces; eight nephews; two aunts; two uncles and several cousins.Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Saturday, February 13th from 12 noon to 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 PM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Rex Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria.
