- Lois Ruth (Hassan) Retzlaff, age 95 of Lockport Road, Wheatfield, was welcomed home into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, June 27, 2025, after a brief illness. Born July 27, 1929 to the late Leonard and Ruth (DuBois) Hassan, Lois was confirmed at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, and graduated from LaSalle High School in 1947. She was employed as a secretary at DuPont Chemical, in Niagara Falls. Lois was united in marriage to Willis Retzlaff on September 8, 1951 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. After marriage, she became a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, where she served in multiple positions. Lois was a devoted prayer warrior, and spent time each day reading her devotions and praying for others. In her later years she became the clerk in the Town of Wheatfield Assessor’s office, working beside her husband Willis. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, reading, and spending time with her family. Survivors include a daughter, Debra (Ted) Sheehan of Bergholz; son, Randall (Darla) Retzlaff of Wheatfield; grandchildren Ted (Holly) Sheehan III, Becky (Mike) Zlotkowski, Tim Sheehan, Tom (Elaine) Sheehan, Amanda (Kyle) Bond, Scott Retzlaff, Tyler (Laura) Kroening, Matthew Kroening, Brock Kroening; great grandchildren, Caleb and Carter Sheehan, Jameson, Jackson and Brooklyn Zlotkowski, Madeline and Tyler Sheehan, Ethan and Camden Shirback, Mark, Anna and Emma Kroening; sister Betty Lou (George) Lozina; sister-in-law Dianne Retzlaff; brother-in-law Edwin Scherrer; and many nieces and nephews. Lois was predeceased by her husband Willis on August 20th 2005; sisters Joanne Scherrer and Sally (Ronald) Archer; brother-in-law Kenneth Retzlaff.Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Sunday June 29th from 2-7 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Kurt Jensen, on Monday June 30th at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Walmore Road in Wheatfield. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
