  Niagara Gazette Plea Filed In Killing BUFFALO (AP) - Alton L. Howe, 20, of North Tonawanda, has admitted in court that he kicked a man to death in a restaurant parking lot last May 19. Howe's plea of guilty to a charge of first degree manslaughter was accepted Tuesday by Justice Ann T. Mikoll of State Supreme Court. She set sentencing for Jan. 30. Howe had been charged originally with murder in the death of Siegmund Mackensen, 65, also of North Tonawanda. When questioned by Justice Mikoll, Howe said Mackensen grabbed him as he was going through automobiles looking for "small items like tape players".Howe said he threw Mackensen to the ground and kicked him repeatedly in the head. "I didn't know what I was doing," Howe told the judge.
