- Donald E. Westphal Obituary
Donald E. Westphal, age 92, of North Tonawanda, passed peacefully on March 11, 2025. Son of the late Walter and Leona Westphal. Loving wife of 64 years to Gail Westphal (nee Meacham) and father of Randal (Marcia) Westphal, Ronald (Kris) Westphal, and Janet Westphal. Cherished grandfather of Sarah (Patrick), Bethany (Kon), Jonathan, Hannah (Tyler), Josh (Bekah), Nathan, and Nicole. The great grandfather of Evelyn, Adeline, and twin boys, Xander and Oliver. Brother of the late Walter (late Mary Jane) Westphal, John (late Mary) Westphal, and Gary (Kathy) Westphal. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Donald served in the United States Army during the Korean War, as a combat medic. Then went on to become a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 36 years. He loved to garden, often singing melodies to his prized tomatoes to encourage them to grow. He enjoyed long car rides with his family and camping in Allegheny. He cherished the time he spent in the kitchen with his wife, and cooking on the grill in the sunshine. He ended every night with a large bowl of ice cream and often said “just a speck more” with a smile. Donald actively volunteered and attended church and served his Lord and Savior faithfully.
Friends may call at Amherst Baptist Church, 100 Willow Ridge Drive, on Saturday from 12:00PM – 1:00PM, where a funeral service will be held immediately following, at 1:00PM. Friends are invited to join the family for an ice cream social at the church after the service, in celebration of Donald's life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Amherst Baptist Church.
