St. Francii of Assisi Church was the setting for a
pretty wedding Sept. 6 when Miss Audrey M. bolpp, daughter
of Mrs. Helen Dolpp of 278 William St. becalne the bride
of Pvt. Richard H. Batt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Batt
of 402 Broad St. The Rev. Francis Trapp officiated before
the altar which was adorned with vases of white gladioli.
Palms decorated the church and family pews were marked
with white silk bows.
Leon Peuquet, accompanied by
Mrs. William Bacon at the organ,
sang "The Ave Maria" and "Mother
At Thy Feet is Kneenng.,,
Given in marriage by her father
LaVerne Dolpp, the bride wore a
white net and lace gown with a
decolletege neckline. The lace bodice
was fashioned with long sleeves
and the skirt of net was worn over
a satin slip; with panel inserts of
lace. Clusters of orange blossoms
fastened her fingertip veil to a
small brimmed headpiece. Wearing
a necklace and earrings of
rhinestone, the gift of the bridegroom,
the bride carried a cascade
bouquet of white roses and white
chrysanthemums tied with white
satin ribbon.
Mrs. Evelyn Mack, sister of the
bride, as matron of honor, wore a
strapless ice blue gown with a
fitted bodice of lace and matching
bolero. A tiered nylon net skirt
with a single layer of cerise fell
over the ice blue satin. She wore
a picture hat of lace and carried
a bouquet of white lilies and red
roses tied with cerise ribbon. Mrs.
Othel Overturf ami Mrs. Dorothy
Williams wore gowns similarly
fashioned of cerise over ice blue
satin. They carried red roses and
lilies tied with ice blue ribbons.
Dennis Heimback attended the
bridegroom as best man and ushers
were the bride's brother, Arnold
Dolpp and her nephew Charles
Dolpp.
An orchid crene dress with white
lace neckline scattered with rhinestones
was worn by the bride's
mother. Black accessories and
corsage of mixed roses and mums
comleted her ensemble. Mrs. Batt
Jr., the bridegroom's mother,
chose a black crepe dress with velvet
neckline trim and black accessories.
His grandmother, Mrs. Batt
Sr. was attired in navy blue tissue
taffeta accented with black accessories.
Both wore corsages of
roses and mums.
A wedding breakfast for the bridal
party and immediate famines
was served at Fangers where Fall
flowers decorated the table. Later
200 guests attended a reception in
Sweeney Fire Company hall.
For a wedding trip into the Finger
Lakes Region the bride wore a
royal blue fitted suit with gray accessories.
Her corsage, taken from
the bridal bouquet was of roses and
stephanotis. Mr. and Mrs. Batt will
make their home to Kentucky until
Pvt. Batt completes his training
there.
Shower hostesses at parties for
the bride were Mrs. William Overturf,
Mrs. Edward Batt Jr., Mrs.
Batt Sr., Mrs. Dolpp, Mrs. Edward
Williams, Mrs. Leonard Mack and
Miss Kathryn Osborne.

December 23, 1933 - November 12, 2025
BATT, AUDREY M. (nee Dolpp), age 91 of Pawleys Island, South Carolina and formerly of the City of Tonawanda, passed away November 12, 2025. Loving companion of the late George Phillips, mother of Richard (Maureen) Batt, Donald (Sharon) Batt and the late Steven Batt, former wife of the late Richard H. Batt, grandmother of Scott (Jessica) Batt, Christine (Andrew) Slife, Brandon (Alli) Batt, Thomas (Pao) Batt, Tyler (Mary) Batt and Jessica Batt, great grandmother of Charlotte, Blakely, Quincy, Norah, Elsie and Avery, daughter of the late Chester and Helen Dolpp and sister of the late LaVerne Dolpp, Evelyn Mack, Robert Dolpp, Dorothy Williams, Othel Overturf, Floyd Dolp and Arnold Dolpp. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Audrey was a life long resident of the City of Tonawanda and was a 1951 graduate of Tonawanda High School and a former member of the Lioness Club. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday December 5, 2025 from 4-7 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts) City of Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday December 6, 2025 at 9:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Chapel, 71 Adam St., City of Tonawanda. Everyone welcome to attend.
