- Col. William George, 64, veteran of 3 wars
Col. William G. George, who served as the senior military representative in the State Department, died Sunday from cancer.
George, of Deerfield Beach, was 64.
Born in Indiana, George began his 33 years of military service with the RAF in Canada. He flew bombing missions over England and served in World II, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War.
He retired to Florida from his Washington, D.C., State Department post 11 years ago.
He retired as a full colonel after receiving numerous medals.
George was a member of the Inverness Elks Club and Tam O'Shanter Golf Club in Pompano Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughters Mrs. Robert Thomas, of Indianapolis, Inc.l Mrs. Edgar Ward, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; son William G. George II of Deerfield, Ill; and ive grandchildren.
Services will be 5:30 tonight at the Kraeer Funeral Home, 1199 Sample Road, Pompano Beach. He will be buried in Indiana.
The family requests that instead of lowers any contributions be made to Hospice Care of the American Cancer Society.
